Objectives
- Introduce key concepts and frameworks on disaster risk reduction (DRR), urban resilience, the , and other approaches supporting DRR and resilience planning and practices at the sub-national level.
- Provide methodology on how to use the to support local governments in integrating DRR into urban development and strengthening multi-stakeholder engagement throughout planning and implementation processes.
- Promote city-to-city learning and sharing of experience, featuring case examples from other local governments and .
Expected learning outcome
By the end of the training, participants should:
- Have enhanced understanding on MCR2030, DRR and urban resilience concepts, and useful tools such as the Ten Essentials for Making Cities Resilient and the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities.
- Be equipped with methodologies to support the development of evidence-based local DRR strategies
- Be able to provide examples of good practices from other cities, especially the MCR2030 Resilience Hubs in Asia-Pacific.
Target participants:
Primary target audience are local government leaders and practitioners in charge of disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, urban development and relevant fields. The training is also useful for national governments and other stakeholders including non-governmental organizations, academia, youth, and private sector working at the sub-national level. While the training is suitable for those in Asia-Pacific time zones, the training is open to all interested participants.
